MICHAEL SMITH SEALS GERMAN DARTS GRAND PRIX SPOT AS CROSS, GREAVES AND VAN DEN BERGH FALL IN QUALIFIER

Michael Smith has secured his place at the German Darts Grand Prix 2026, set for April 4-6 in Munich, by winning a European Tour Qualifier on Wednesday. Smith sealed a qualification double, also earning a spot at the Poland Darts Open, after defeating Tom Sykes 6-4 in the final match. His path included victories over Jurjen van der Velde and Pascal Rupprecht.

Notable names faltered in the qualifier, with Beau Greaves losing to Darryl Pilgrim 6-1 after beating Tytus Kanik. Rob Cross and Dimitri van den Bergh also failed to qualify, losing early on. Peter Wright did not play after losing in Qualifier One, while Greaves skipped that earlier qualifier, indicating some players are picking events based on their schedules.

Other qualifiers included Kim Huybrechts, who beat Jim Long 6-3, and Adam Lipscombe, who defeated Darryl Pilgrim 6-2 to mark his European Tour return. Kevin Doets, Sebastian Bialecki, Thomas Lovely, and Stephen Burton also advanced. Brendan Dolan took down Ian White, who fell in back-to-back final rounds.

Detailed results from the qualifier show key matches: Stephen Burton beat David Sharp 6-5, Thomas Lovely defeated Rusty-Jake Rodriguez 6-4, Ritchie Edhouse overcame Cor Dekker 6-4, James Hurrell beat Andrew Gilding 6-4, Michael Smith topped Tom Sykes 6-4, Kevin Doets won against Karel Sedlacek 6-3, Adam Lipscombe beat Darryl Pilgrim 6-2, Brendan Dolan defeated Ian White 6-3, Kim Huybrechts beat Jim Long 6-3, and Sebastian Bialecki overcame Kai Gotthardt 6-3.
