DAZN SECURES FIVE-YEAR PDC RIGHTS EXTENSION IN GERMANY, SET TO BROADCAST CHALLENGE AND DEVELOPMENT TOURS FOR FIRST TIME

DAZN has reportedly secured the broadcast rights to Professional Darts Corporation tournaments for another five years, extending its deal through the 2032 World Darts Championship, according to Welt's reporting. The current agreement, in place since 2022, was originally set to expire with the upcoming Worlds. This move settles the darts rights landscape in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland for the long term in the pay-TV sector, providing fans with a central hub for key PDC events until 2032.

In a significant expansion, DAZN will not only continue to broadcast ProTours but also plans to show Players Championship events for the first time by a German rights holder. Previously, these floor events were available exclusively on PDCTV, the PDC's in-house streaming platform, and even in the UK, they are not shown on TV, making this a first for any country. Additionally, the PDC Europe Super League, which awards the German spot for the World Championship each year, will move to DAZN's schedule and be broadcast live on the streaming platform.

Perhaps the most historic change involves the new rights package as a whole, with broadcasts of the Challenge Tour, Development Tour, and Women's Series also planned. This is unprecedented in PDC history, as the Challenge and Development Tours have never been shown on a regular basis and have traditionally taken place entirely behind closed doors. The existing rights package continues to include exclusive coverage of all PDC majors, such as the World Darts Championship at London's Alexandra Palace, the entire World Series of Darts along with the World Series of Darts Finals, and the full European Tour.
