JONNY CLAYTON STORMS TO PREMIER LEAGUE NIGHT THREE VICTORY IN GLASGOW WITH 156 CHECKOUT

Jonny Clayton claimed the Night Three win in the 2026 Premier League Darts with a dominant 6-2 victory over Gian van Veen at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow on Thursday, 19 February 2026. The Welshman averaged 104.35 and sealed the triumph in spectacular fashion with a stunning 156 checkout, capping a clinical performance that also included wins over Gerwyn Price and Luke Littler. The night was reshaped by Michael van Gerwen's absence due to illness, with Clayton capitalising to top the early-season standings.

Clayton's path to the final began with a confident 6-3 quarter-final victory over Gerwyn Price in an all-Welsh clash, where he landed a trademark 121 checkout. He then dismantled Luke Littler 6-1 in the semi-finals, averaging 101.33 and converting 66.67 per cent of his doubles. Van Veen earned his place by averaging 104.36 in a 6-3 quarter-final win over Stephen Bunting, sealing it with an 11-darter, before edging out Luke Humphries 6-5 in a high-quality semi-final where he survived seven Humphries maximums and pinned D8 in the deciding leg after missed darts at D16 from the reigning Premier League champion.

In the final, Clayton set the tone immediately, taking the opener after missing D14 for 121 but returning to pin D7. He moved 2-0 ahead after wiring the bull for 121 before tidying up, and though Van Veen briefly responded with a 97 finish in leg five, Clayton's composure proved decisive. A key D16 made it 3-1, and despite some rare missed doubles later, he maintained control before producing the defining moment: at 5-2, he checked out 156 with treble 20, treble 20 and double 18 to claim the Night Three crown.

Elsewhere on Night Three, Michael van Gerwen's illness withdrawal handed Luke Littler a bye into the semi-finals and two league points, but Littler failed to convert that into a win, producing a subdued display in his 6-1 defeat to Clayton. Stephen Bunting's loss to Van Veen means three straight defeats to begin his campaign, while Josh Rock also falls to 0-3 after his quarter-final exit to Luke Humphries. With Van Gerwen absent, Littler beaten, and Humphries eliminated in a deciding leg, the night tightened the early-season standings and underlined how quickly momentum can shift in the Premier League format.
