GERWYN PRICE 'GUTTED' AFTER GLASGOW PREMIER LEAGUE EXIT ENDS WINNING RUN

Gerwyn Price has reacted to his Night Three exit in the 2026 Premier League Darts with a candid Instagram message following defeat in Glasgow. Posting after his quarter-final loss at the OVO Hydro, Price wrote: "Gutted there after getting myself back into great form and where I want to be. Hopefully back and ready for next week in Belfast. Well done to Jonny he played great darts." The message captured the frustration of a night that marked a sharp contrast to just seven days earlier.

Price arrived in Glasgow off the back of a dominant weekly win in Antwerp, where he had produced some of the sharpest darts of the campaign. In Scotland, however, the level dropped noticeably. The former world champion averaged 91.96 in his 6-3 defeat to Jonny Clayton, the lowest average of the night by a significant margin. The result also ended a personal run of dominance over Clayton, as Price had not lost to his World Cup of Darts partner in over three years. On this occasion, he was outplayed in key moments, including a clinical 121 finish that helped Clayton take control. Most importantly, the quarter-final exit meant no league points added to his tally, stalling the momentum he had built in Belgium.

Night Three unfolded under unusual circumstances following the illness withdrawal of league leader Michael van Gerwen. With opportunities opening up across the draw, the margins felt even sharper, but Price was unable to capitalise. Clayton, by contrast, surged through the night, defeating Price before dismantling Luke Littler and ultimately overpowering Gian van Veen 6-2 in the final with a 104.35 average and a spectacular 156 checkout to seal the nightly title. The Welshman now leads the standings after three weeks, while Price's early-season trajectory has taken an unexpected pause.

Price's message also looked ahead, as Belfast hosts the next stop on the travelling roadshow. The former world champion made clear his focus is already shifting. The frustration in Glasgow was evident, but in a 16-week league phase defined by swings in momentum, the opportunity to respond arrives quickly. For Price, the challenge now is ensuring that Antwerp proves the norm, and Glasgow the exception.
