HUW WARE HAILS GEORGE NOBLE AS GREATEST DARTS REFEREE, REVEALS CLOSE BOND WITH NATHAN ASPINALL

Huw Ware has named George Noble the greatest darts referee of all time, praising his voice, command, and authority. Speaking to talkSPORT, Ware highlighted Noble's career in both the BDO and PDC, noting his calm demeanor even in high-pressure moments. Ware, who made history as the first openly gay referee to officiate a World Championship final at the 2025 decider between Luke Littler and Michael van Gerwen, described Noble as a benchmark for refereeing, saying, "The old saying is a sign of a good caller is when you don't notice them. I think George epitomises that."

Noble, nicknamed 'The Puppy', moved to the PDC in 2007 and was part of historic moments, including Raymond van Barneveld's first nine-darter in PDC World Championship history against Jelle Klaasen at Alexandra Palace in 2009. A year later, he oversaw Phil Taylor's two perfect legs in a single match during the 2010 Premier League final against James Wade. Ware emphasized Noble's legacy, stating, "I think he is the greatest caller we have ever had."

Alongside his admiration for Noble, Ware spoke candidly about his friendship with Nathan Aspinall, crediting the Englishman for helping launch his podcast Tops and Tales. Ware said, "Off the board, Nathan Aspinall. I adore Nathan. I think he is a lovely lad. Obviously a great darts player, but he is a great guy as well." He added that their bond has grown stronger this year, with Aspinall being one of the first to record for the podcast at the World Masters last year, an episode Ware calls one of his favorites.
