Luke Littler has triumphed at the inaugural Poland Darts Open in Krakow, defeating Gian van Veen 8-4 in a thrilling final that featured a sensational nine-darter from Van Veen. The victory marks Littler's fifth European Tour title and came on the closing day of the first European Tour event ever held in Poland, part of the PDC European Tour 2026. This final was a rematch of last month's World Championship final at Alexandra Palace, where Littler won convincingly 7-1 in sets, and in Krakow, the current world number one reaffirmed his top status.
Reflecting on his win, Littler said, "It's been a very good weekend for myself. I felt really good throughout the tournament. In the first three weeks of the Premier League I've not felt the best, so I definitely needed this one." He emphasized that the victory wasn't just about the trophy, adding, "I wanted to come here and win the title and that's what I've done. Most importantly it was about playing well, getting that average up and hitting my doubles." Littler also credited his strong opening match against Mike De Decker as the foundation for his tournament success, stating, "My first game against Mike De Decker was incredible, and I'm very happy and very confident now going into Belfast on Thursday."
The European Tour continues on the weekend of March 13th, 14th and 15th with the European Darts Trophy in Göttingen. Nathan Aspinall will start that tournament as defending champion, having beaten Ryan Joyce 8-4 in last year's final. Notably, Littler did not take part in the European Darts Trophy last year and is also skipping the trip to Germany this year.
