GERWYN PRICE CLAIMS PLAYERS CHAMPIONSHIP 6 TITLE WITH THREE OF TOP FIVE AVERAGES

Gerwyn Price secured the sixth Players Championship of the season in Leicester yesterday, dominating Andrew Gilding 8-1 in the final to claim the 22nd Players Championship title of his career. The Welshman, known as "The Iceman," maintained an impressively high level throughout the day, closing with a tournament average of 104.

While Price's overall performance was stellar, the highest average of the event belonged to Chris Dobey, who averaged a remarkable 111.33 in a 6-0 sweep of Maximilian Czerwinski in the last 64. Dobey, however, exited in the next round, losing 6-4 to Christian Kist.

Price's dominance was reflected in the averages, as he posted the second, third, and fourth highest marks. In his 6-1 win over Scott Waites in the last 16, he averaged 109.48; he followed that with a 108.59 average in a 6-4 quarterfinal victory over Kevin Doets; and earlier, in a 6-1 second-round win over Maik Kuivenhoven, he averaged 107.85.

The top five averages were rounded out by Martijn Dragt, who averaged 107.24 in a 6-2 opening-round win over Joe Hunt. Dragt also defeated Gary Anderson in the next round before bowing out 6-2 to eventual finalist Gilding in the last 32. The Players Championship now takes a break for just over a month, resuming on Monday, 03/30/2026, with the seventh tournament of the season scheduled in Leicester.
