Luke Littler's Premier League Darts struggles deepened as he was booed by the crowd in Belfast and lost to Jonny Clayton for the second consecutive week. The 19-year-old world champion fell 6-3 in the quarterfinals in Northern Ireland, following a 6-1 defeat in Glasgow, and is still awaiting his first final of the season. Clayton proved more clinical on the doubles, punishing Littler's misses to secure a convincing win.
During the match, Littler faced a restless crowd, with a loud whistle interrupting him mid-throw while trailing 5-2. He stepped off the oche, smiled, and gestured towards the audience, later producing a fine 112 checkout and urging calm. However, Clayton sealed the victory in the ninth leg. Sky Sports commentator Dan Dawson noted, "The crowd are getting to him. He is going to laugh it off. It is probably the best way to deal with it. This is what pressure does to people. Luke Littler 5-2 up probably ignores that." Dawson attributed the loss to finishing, saying, "It's not quite clicked for him in the Premier League yet. Clayton has been better than Littler and it is mainly down to the doubles. Littler was let down by his doubling and Jonny mercilessly punished that."
Littler scored solidly but missed key opportunities on the outer ring, while Clayton stayed steady. After four match nights, Littler has four points, two of which came from a bye when Michael van Gerwen withdrew ill in Glasgow. This contrasts with his Euro Tour performance, where he dominated the Poland Darts Open with high averages and flawless finishing last weekend, highlighting a lack of sustained sharpness in the Premier League.
