PREMIER LEAGUE DARTS HEADS TO CARDIFF FOR NIGHT FIVE WITH WELSH DUO HEADLINING HOME CROWD

The Premier League Darts roadshow rolls into Cardiff on Thursday, March 5 for the fifth night of the 2026 season, with Welsh stars Gerwyn Price and Jonny Clayton set to perform in front of a home crowd at the Utilita Arena. The night follows the familiar knockout format, with quarterfinals, semifinals, and a final, where the winner pockets a £10,000 bonus and five points towards the overall standings. The runner-up earns three points, while losing semifinalists take two points. Quarterfinal losers leave empty-handed.

The evening's action kicks off with a blockbuster quarterfinal between Michael van Gerwen and Luke Humphries. Van Gerwen has started strongly, winning the opening night and reaching another final in week two, amassing 8 points, though he missed week three in Glasgow for medical reasons and lost narrowly to Gerwyn Price upon his return last week. Humphries, the defending champion, has had a slower start with just 4 points and no finals, losing to Stephen Bunting 6-4 in the quarterfinals last week. Their head-to-head is tight at 17-16 in Van Gerwen's favor over 33 meetings, but Humphries leads 8-3 in Premier League clashes.

Next, Gian van Veen faces Jonny Clayton in a repeat of the Night 3 final in Glasgow, which Clayton won. Van Veen, in his Premier League debut, has reached three finals in four nights but lost all three, sitting second with 9 points. Clayton leads the standings with 11 points after winning Night 3 and reaching the semifinals three other times. Their head-to-head is balanced at 3-3, with Clayton winning their most recent Premier League meeting.

Gerwyn Price meets last week's winner Stephen Bunting in another quarterfinal. Price has 7 points, largely from a night win on the second evening, and has a strong record in Cardiff, winning the night in 2023 and reaching the final in 2024. Bunting won Night 4 in Belfast with two averages over 106, beating Van Veen 6-2 in the final. Price leads their overall head-to-head 14-9, but Bunting has won two of their three Premier League meetings.

The final quarterfinal pits Luke Littler against Josh Rock, with both struggling at the bottom of the table. Littler, seventh with 4 points, has yet to reach a final, losing his opening match twice and a semifinal, and benefiting from Van Gerwen's withdrawal in week three. Rock is still on zero points, though he threw a nine-darter last week in Belfast. Rock has lost all five of their previous meetings, with Littler dominating the last two.
