COLIN LLOYD BACKS BEAU GREAVES FOR MAJOR SUCCESS: 'I GENUINELY BELIEVE SHE CAN'

Former world number one Colin Lloyd has voiced strong confidence in Beau Greaves, stating the 22-year-old has all the attributes to win a major PDC title. Lloyd, a multiple major winner himself, emphasized that success hinges on consistency and high averages, not just favorable draws. "If everything falls into place for her – and I don’t just mean the draw opening up – I mean the consistency that we know she’s capable of producing with those big averages," Lloyd explained. He added, "if you’re putting in big averages, you’re creating opportunities for yourself and you’re taking them. When that happens, it becomes so difficult for any opponent to break you down. She’s got all of that. She’s got all the attributes. And if it all comes together at a major, I’m not going to say she can’t do it, because I genuinely believe she can."

Lloyd highlighted that Greaves, who has held a PDC Tour Card since this season and is competing full-time on the professional circuit, needs a consistent 12-month cycle to qualify for and attack bigger events like the Matchplay and the Grand Prix. "What she needs is a consistent 12 months. Then you can really start attacking those bigger events because you’ve got the full 12-month cycle to try and get yourself into tournaments like the Matchplay and the Grand Prix," he said. However, he noted room for improvement, stressing that qualifying for events is crucial, as some big players miss out, which takes them out of contention immediately.

Former professional Mark Webster pointed to the importance of the PDC European Tour for Greaves's development and ranking. "European Tour qualification is also huge. Those events carry so much prize money, so if she can start qualifying for them and put together a good run, that will really help boost her ranking," Webster stated. This prize money counts toward the Order of Merit, which determines entry into the PDC's biggest events. Webster also praised Greaves's adaptation to ProTour life, saying, "But from where I’m standing, everything is progressing nicely at the moment. She’s adapted really well to life on the ProTour, and she’ll continue to manage that over the coming months and years."
