LUKE LITTLER SILENCES WELSH CROWD TO CLAIM FIRST PREMIER LEAGUE NIGHTLY TITLE IN CARDIFF

Luke Littler captured his first nightly title of the Premier League Darts season with a composed victory on Night Five in Cardiff, propelling him from seventh to third in the standings. In a roaring arena that largely backed the Welsh favorites, Littler kept his cool through several tricky moments to crown himself winner, sending a clear signal that the reigning world champion remains a force to be reckoned with.

Littler's evening opened with a gritty quarterfinal against Josh Rock, which he admitted was a game where he "felt like it was a great game, but then I came back and checked the stats and Josh actually played a lot better than me." He emphasized the importance of such wins, stating, "That's all I wanted to do. I say it every week — just win that first game and get two points on the board." In the semi-final, he faced crowd favourite Gerwyn Price, blocking out the atmosphere to secure a win and even mimicking Price's trademark celebration, laughing afterwards, "Sometimes you can't help yourself against Gezzy, can you?"

The final saw Littler take on another Welsh favourite, Jonny Clayton, in a high-quality affair where Littler remained deliberately calm. He explained, "Usually I get on to them, but tonight I just felt like I needed to win," adding, "Like I've always said, do the hard work and then in the final just relax. I didn't give too much away, I didn't give too much to the fans, and yeah, I got the win." On his way to the title, Littler produced two spectacular 170 checkouts, known as the 'big fish', remarking, "You don't usually see two in a night, but for myself to get two was a little bit special."

With the victory, Littler noted the wide-open table, saying, "There wasn't a lot in it leading into tonight. But yeah, I knew if I win I'd be in a good position and that's what I've done." He hopes to build momentum after five different winners in the opening five weeks, stating, "I mean, I hope so — I really do hope so that I can go off into the lead now." Attention now turns to the UK Open in Minehead, where Littler enjoys the unpredictable format, saying, "You don't know what to expect. You can play absolutely anyone. That's why I love it. Hopefully we can have a good run."
