Joe Cullen and Mensur Suljovic faced off again this Tuesday afternoon at Players Championship 2, marking their first meeting since a heated second-round clash at the 2026 World Darts Championship. Just like at Alexandra Palace, it was Suljovic who emerged victorious, but this time in a far more amicable atmosphere.
Their previous encounter in December turned into one of the tournament's spiciest matches. Cullen took the first set 3-0, but Suljovic claimed the second 3-1. From the third set onward, Suljovic celebrated extensively after every leg won, then walked to the edge of the stage and took his time before returning to the oche, visibly frustrating Cullen. Suljovic edged the last two sets 3-2, leading to a fierce on-stage exchange and post-match accusations where Cullen called Suljovic a 'cheater' and felt the Austrian acted like a jerk.
In the rematch at Players Championship 2, Suljovic produced a superb display, winning 6-2 against Cullen. He was helped by three 15-darters and two 14-darters, finishing with an average just over 101. The most striking moment came after the final double, as the pair shook hands with a smile. In the background, Cullen could be heard saying: "You can play normal can't you, see. You can play normal."
It appears both players have moved on from December's incident, handling their latest showdown without the previous fuss and on good terms.
