DARYL GURNEY LASHES OUT AT 'D***HEAD' DISPLAY IN EUROPEAN DARTS TROPHY WIN

Daryl Gurney expressed frustration with his own performance despite securing a narrow victory over Sebastian Bialecki at the European Darts Trophy in Gottingen. The Northern Irishman admitted he made the match harder than necessary, praising the crowd as "absolutely amazing" but noting that players were complicating things for themselves.

Gurney lamented giving away crucial legs after establishing an early lead, stating, "I did the exact same there, I gave away two legs to Sebastian (Bialecki) so I think even then I was still like 3-1 up and then I gave away two legs and it was 3-3." In a moment of self-criticism, he exclaimed, "I thought you are an absolute dh...d***head," trying to refrain from swearing in his scathing assessment.

He highlighted missed opportunities on doubles, particularly when he had six darts at double 16 to break Bialecki and take control of the game. Gurney joked that "normal dart players not the Premier League dart players, we like to make life difficult for ourselves," acknowledging he fell into that trap. Ultimately, he managed to progress to the next stage, though he described it as far from a straightforward victory.
