DUTCH DOMINATE HIGHEST AVERAGES AT EUROPEAN DARTS TROPHY 2026

The 2026 European Darts Trophy showcased a remarkable display of scoring prowess, with Dutch players dominating the list of highest averages. Kevin Doets led the way with a phenomenal 117.12 average, the best of the tournament, though he lost 6-3 to Damon Heta in the third round. Wessel Nijman made a huge impact, appearing four times in the top averages: 112.87, 110.41, 106.05, and 100.80, underlining his scoring power and consistency as he claimed his first PDC European Tour title at the event.

Michael van Gerwen also featured in the top five with a 107 average, but it wasn't enough to beat Niels Zonneveld, who averaged 104.46 in their second-round match. Gerwyn Price delivered a strong showing with a 106.70 average, though he lost 8-3 to Nijman in the final. Damon Heta rounded out the list with a 101.42 average, reaching the semi-finals where he went down 7-5 to Price. Heta is one of only two non-Dutch players in the top 10 highest averages.

The strong Dutch representation, including Doets, Nijman, Van Gerwen, and Zonneveld, highlights the current strength of Dutch influence in international darts. These high averages indicate an exceptionally high standard at the tournament, producing spectacular matches with heavy scoring and clinical checkouts. The European Tour continues this weekend with the Belgian Darts Open in Wieze, where Luke Littler enters as defending champion after beating Mike De Decker 8-5 in last year's final.
