JONNY CLAYTON'S 'UNEXPECTED' DOMINANCE: FERRET LEADS PREMIER LEAGUE BY EIGHT POINTS AHEAD OF DUBLIN TEST

Jonny Clayton has surged to an impressive start in the 2026 Premier League Darts, holding an eight-point lead over his nearest rival as he heads to Dublin for Night 7 on Thursday evening at the 3Arena. The Welshman, who faces world number two Luke Humphries in the quarterfinals, described his form by saying, "I wasn't expecting to do so well, but it's happening." Clayton's down-to-earth approach focuses on consistency, with him adding, "I'm looking for two points week-in, week-out, and anything else is a bonus."

Clayton has enjoyed a virtually perfect opening phase, winning his quarterfinal in each of the first six nights and securing two nightly victories in Glasgow and Nottingham. These results have put him on 19 points, creating a comfortable cushion over the chasing pack. Behind him, Luke Littler sits second but faces a sizeable deficit, with Clayton noting, "It's hard to catch the ones on top." The Premier League's volatile nature makes Clayton's consistency stand out, as he keeps delivering week in, week out.

Night 7 presents another tough test for Clayton, as he meets Luke Humphries, the world number one and his opponent in last week's final, which Clayton won. Humphries is expected to seek revenge, but Clayton remains focused on his immediate goal, stating, "I know that Luke will be coming out all guns blazing in Dublin as well, but my aim is to win two points. I don't care who I play against, I need two points on that board." With his current form and advantage, Clayton looks well on track for a top-four spot, though he refuses to look ahead, keeping his sights set on the present.
