Kim Huybrechts, Andy Baetens, Francois Schweyen, and Pascal Devroey have qualified for the Belgian Darts Open via the Host Nation Qualifier, which took place on Thursday, March 19. The third European Tour event of the year, held in Wieze, starts tomorrow afternoon, with four remaining spots allocated through this qualifier where 167 players competed.
Kim Huybrechts delivered a solid performance, beginning with a 6-0 win over Milan Vanuytrecht, followed by victories over Vincent Borgmans (6-2) and Brian Raman (6-0). In the last 32, he averaged 76 to beat Michael De Meyer 6-4, then defeated Axel Savelkoel 6-3, and secured his spot with a 6-2 win over Timothy Verbrugghe, posting a perfect 100 average in that decisive match.
Andy Baetens also impressed, starting with a 6-1 win over Xavier Bracke and a 6-3 victory over Dries Cremers. He averaged over 101 to brush aside Jersey de Corte 6-1, then beat Nunjo Dewaele 6-2, and Sean Stessens 6-1 with an average of nearly 99. In his tightest contest, he edged Mario Vandenbogaerde 6-4 to qualify.
Francois Schweyen and Pascal Devroey claimed the last two places. Schweyen defeated Ergys Mataj (6-1), Joey Desenfans (6-4), Stijn Sermon (6-0), John Desreumaux (6-5), Kevin Lankhuizen (6-0 with a 98 average), and Jeroen Caron (6-3). Devroey beat Eric De Kock-De Bruyn (6-3), Stefan Vandevelde (6-2), Geert De Vos (6-3), Stijn Deklerck (6-5), and Mylo Michiels (6-2), recording his highest average of 81.85 in the final match.
