Top darts stars are threatening to boycott future European Tour events after facing severe travel disruptions en route to this weekend's Belgian Darts Open in Wieze. The tournament, already hit by withdrawals, has drawn sharp criticism from players over long passport control waits, particularly affecting British players without EU passports post-Brexit. Jonny Clayton, part of this year's Premier League line-up, shared a photo of a two-hour queue at Brussels airport on Instagram, writing, "Two hour wait in Brussels airport, this could be the last European Tour of the year." He indicated he is considering boycotting future tournaments.
Nathan Aspinall also encountered problems, posting on social media, "Another week, another Euro Tour. Another f*** off wait to get through passport." Chris Dobey echoed the frustration, noting, "These airports are becoming an absolute nightmare and it's only Euro Tour 3/15." The travel issues stem from Brexit-related rules requiring British passports to be stamped, leading to lengthy lines at border control.
Despite the chaos, the players are scheduled to compete if they clear passport control. Clayton will face the winner of Nijman/Bialecki, Dobey takes on Chisnall or Tricole, and Aspinall is set to play Ryan Joyce. Other Premier League players who traveled include Dublin winner Luke Littler, Michael van Gerwen, Luke Humphries, Stephen Bunting, and Josh Rock, while Gerwyn Price and Gian van Veen—the latter hospitalized with kidney stones—did not make the trip.
