Gerwyn Price secured Night 2 of the Premier League Darts 2026 in Antwerp, defeating Michael van Gerwen 6-3 in the final at the AFAS Dome. The 40-year-old Welshman, who had exited in the quarter-finals in Newcastle the previous week, bounced back to bank five Premier League points and a £10,000 bonus. Price stated, "Going out in the first round last week sort of upset me a bit, having chances to win the match," but added, "I came here just targeting one game, that’s what I do every week, just to try and win one."
Reflecting on his performance, Price noted he felt "in the zone" during the final, comparing it to his Pro Tour experiences: "That’s probably the only time tonight I felt like I was in the Pro Tour, when I was playing Michael in the final." He believes he is playing some of his best darts, saying, "In patches, yeah, I’m probably playing the best I’ve ever played," but acknowledged the high standard: "So is everybody else, you need to be even better." Price also discussed the rise of Luke Humphries and Luke Littler, noting, "I think the fact that the two Lukes are playing so well has probably kicked us up the backside a bit, definitely me. I’m practising more than ever and it’s paying off."
On the Antwerp crowd atmosphere, Price commented, "I feel like they were decent through every game. You get it in every country, you get a whistle here and there, they can sort of put you off, but the majority of the time they were good. In patches they could be better." He admitted struggling in the semi-final: "I didn’t deal with it very well in the semis but I managed to get through it. It’s frustrating at times," and added with a light-hearted remark, "They have a couple of beers and what can you expect? Hopefully we come here for many years and they’ll get a bit better." Looking ahead to Glasgow, Price said, "Especially the first game was really tough, trying to just get two points on the board. Once I’d done that I sort of relaxed," and signed off with ambition: "A couple of nine-darters and hopefully win another night."
