ADRIAN LEWIS PLOTTING PDC COMEBACK AFTER PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REFRESH

Two-time world champion Adrian Lewis is eyeing a return to the PDC Tour, revealing he feels "refreshed" and motivated by enjoyment after a break from the sport. In an interview, Lewis stated, "Now I feel refreshed, and I just want to go back and enjoy it," acknowledging that after over 20 years at the top level, "I think I needed a break. After 20 years, I definitely needed it." He emphasized a realistic approach, noting his comeback will start at Q School and that he's "not expecting to get straight back into the top 16 anytime soon."

Lewis has undergone a significant physical transformation, losing about three and a half stone (just over 20 kilograms) over the last 14 months through walking, healthier eating, and abstaining from alcohol. He explained this was a conscious effort: "Consciously doing it because you have to be fit for when you come back on tour eventually." This marks a shift from his past, where he wasn't always known for physical preparation.

Finances are not driving his potential comeback, as Lewis stressed, "I've never been motivated by money. I've always done it for trophies." He referenced discussions with Gary Anderson, saying, "Gary Anderson have always had that argument — he says I do it for the money, but I say never." Instead, he's inspired by the impact of young stars like Luke Littler on crowds, noting, "what he's done more than anything is impact the crowds. When I'm doing exhibitions now, there are a lot more children playing — and I love that. That's probably what's inspired me more than anything."

Despite his natural talent, Lewis joked about his skills, saying, "If I haven't thrown for a month, sometimes it feels like I'm not even right-handed. But within 10–15 minutes, I'm back." He remains cautious about a full return, admitting a Premier League Darts comeback "might be too much," but added, "if I'm playing well enough... I wouldn't say no." Lewis concluded that he'll only return when truly ready, focusing on enjoyment: "I just want to enjoy it again."
