Luke Humphries has secured his ninth European Tour title by winning the Belgian Darts Open in Wieze, defeating Jonny Clayton 8-6 in the final. The victory places the world number two among only four players to have won nine or more Euro Tour titles, joining Michael van Gerwen, Gerwyn Price, and Peter Wright in this prestigious group.
Humphries' path to the title was not without challenges. In the quarterfinals, he struggled with doubles against Chris Dobey but edged through in a last-leg decider. He then dominated Michael van Gerwen in the semifinals, averaging over 105 to set up the final clash with Clayton. Despite a blistering start, Clayton mounted a fightback, but Humphries ultimately held on to claim his first silverware in Belgium.
With this win, Humphries moves to second in the all-time Euro Tour titles list, tied with Gerwyn Price and Peter Wright at nine titles each. Michael van Gerwen leads with 38 titles from 116 events, while Dave Chisnall rounds out the top five with eight titles, six of which came between 2022 and 2024. The next stop on the European Tour is the German Darts Grand Prix in Munich, where Humphries will aim for a tenth title after winning the event in 2024 with an 8-1 victory over van Gerwen.
