UGANDA MAKES HISTORY WITH WORLD CUP OF DARTS DEBUT AFTER AFRICAN QUALIFIER TRIUMPH

Uganda will make its debut at the PDC World Cup of Darts after Patrick Ocheng and Juma Said won the African qualifier, securing a historic spot for their country. The duo capped a strong tournament by winning the final 8-3 against a pair from Malawi, marking a major step in the sport's growth and recognition for Uganda.

While Uganda celebrates its breakthrough, Kenyan duo Peter Wachiuri and David Munyua missed out, falling at the last 32 stage in the qualifier. Munyua had recently made waves by becoming the first Kenyan ever to win a match at the World Darts Championship, beating Mike De Decker 3-2 in the first round at Alexandra Palace at the end of last year, with both Kenyans also showing strong performances in the MODUS Super Series.

The World Cup of Darts is a unique tournament played in pairs, with national teams facing off, adding an extra layer of teamwork and pride. For Ocheng and Said, it represents not only a sporting challenge but an honor to represent Uganda at the highest level, even if they are not among the favorites on debut.

Uganda's qualification underscores the growing globalization of darts, with more nations outside Europe making their mark and diversifying the competitive field. Participation alone is a historic milestone for Uganda, which has now firmly put itself on the map in the international darts scene.
