Damon Heta has opened up about his recent struggles for form in a strikingly honest interview with Sky Sports. The Australian, known for his precision and persistence, reflected on his mindset and goals, admitting that despite being content with his life as a dart player, he is not fully satisfied due to a lack of results. "I've probably kept the same goals for the last couple of years now," Heta said, referencing a comment he made at the Masters earlier in 2026 where he expressed contentment. However, he added, "It just feels like it doesn't sit right with me. I'm not content."
Heta stressed that his hard work both inside and outside of darts has not yet paid off in terms of outcomes. "Because I work so hard, and I do so much, just trying to make it better. But I need these results to come so all this hard work pays off," he explained. He acknowledged going through a spell of disappointing results, stating, "At the moment, the results aren't flying like I'd like them to be. But it just makes me a bit more hungry and a bit more keen."
Despite the challenges, Heta remains focused on his ambitions, with a clear list of goals written out. "I've got my list of goals. Whether they are results-based or if they're on what I can control. They're all there. They are all written out, and yeah. I've just got to keep focusing on that," he said. Heta, who has been Australia's number one for several years and has shown he can compete at the highest level, concluded optimistically: "Yeah, hopefully it all pulls through at the end."
