Danny Noppert has advanced to the third round of the German Darts Grand Prix after a tense 6-5 victory over Ritchie Edhouse in the second round. The Dutchman, known as "The Freeze," will now face Karel Sedlacek in the next stage of the tournament. The match was described as a nail-biter, with every leg fiercely contested and the outcome decided only in the final leg, showcasing Noppert's mental resilience.
Speaking to DartsNews after the win, Noppert admitted, "Of course I want to have a comfortable win, but it's not every time that way." He added, "But most of the time when I'm on 5-5, I'm crucial in my last leg. It was a brilliant last leg of course." The victory comes amid increased attention on Noppert, who was prominently mentioned in discussions for the Premier League Darts lineup at the start of the year but ultimately missed out.
Reflecting on his current form, Noppert stated, "I think I can do better. Of course I'm happy to play darts every tournament." He concluded, "I enjoy every time, but I think I can do better. So far I like it," acknowledging room for improvement despite his progress in the event.
