Former professional darter Matt Edgar has made a bold prediction about Beau Greaves, stating that the 22-year-old from Doncaster will become the first woman ever to win a PDC major. Edgar believes this is justified based on her development and performances, as reported on the Mission Darts Podcast.
Greaves, nicknamed "Beau 'n' Arrow," has dominated women's darts, including an unprecedented streak of winning 113 matches in a row in the Women's Series and claiming the last 17 tournaments of that cycle. She has also proven her ability against top male players, beating current world number one Luke Littler during the PDC World Youth Championship and recording wins over players like Gian van Veen and Josh Rock, while competing with world-class stars such as Luke Humphries.
Edgar elaborated on his views, saying, "I think top 16 is realistic for Beau Greaves. I think she's going to be the first ever female to win a major title. I think she will win one. She's still young. We're talking about a quality operator here who can compete with the top 32 and has beaten the best players in the world. So, with that, absolutely, I think she'll win a major title." He added that it will take time, noting, "She's still not a player who believes in her own ability 100 percent," and cautioned that she has never won a game at Ally Pally, though he believes she will eventually get into the Premier League.
Edgar also praised Greaves' management team for their handling of her career, which has included dominance on the WDF Tour, phased entry into the Women's Series, appearances on the Development Tour and Challenge Tour, and ultimately outings on the Pro Tour. Greaves has held a PDC Tour Card since this season. Edgar concluded that with her gradual rise, she has everything it takes to make history, and it seems only a matter of time before a woman breaks through the PDC's glass ceiling.
