GERWYN PRICE CLAIMS 'BEST I'VE EVER PLAYED' IN PATCHES AHEAD OF WELSH DERBY IN GLASGOW

GERWYN PRICE CLAIMS 'BEST I'VE EVER PLAYED' IN PATCHES AHEAD OF WELSH DERBY IN GLASGOW

Gerwyn Price arrives in Glasgow for Night 3 of the Premier League Darts 2026 chasing a second straight nightly title after a dominant performance last week. 'The Iceman' won Night 2 in Antwerp, averaging well over 104 per visit as he defeated Gian van Veen and Jonny Clayton before convincingly dispatching Michael van Gerwen 6-3 in the final.

Price faces his compatriot Jonny Clayton in the quarterfinals at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow on Thursday evening. Price has won his last ten head-to-head meetings with Clayton, a statistical edge that will give him extra confidence, though Clayton will be eager for payback. The pair are regular partners for Wales at the World Cup of Darts but will put friendship aside on the Premier League stage.

Ahead of the clash, Price said he is feeling better and better on the oche. "In patches I’m probably playing the best I’ve ever played, but so is everybody else," he stated. "I think the fact the two Lukes are playing so well has probably kicked us up the backside a bit. I am practising more than ever now, and it’s paying off." He also acknowledged that Michael van Gerwen and other top stars are likely doing the same to adapt to the rising level.

The winner of the Welsh derby will meet the victor of the blockbuster quarterfinal between Michael van Gerwen and Luke Littler in the semifinal. Van Gerwen leads the table after two nights with a three-point advantage over his closest chasers, having reached the final on both Night 1 and Night 2 before losing to Price last week. With a roaring Scottish crowd at the OVO Hydro as the backdrop, Night 3 promises fireworks as the standard remains sky-high in the race for playoff spots.
