MICHAEL VAN GERWEN'S EUROPEAN TOUR DOMINANCE: 38 WINS FROM 50 FINALS FOR THE DUTCH KING

Dutch players have reached an impressive 65 finals on the European Tour, but the story of their success is overwhelmingly dominated by one man: Michael van Gerwen. A deep dive into the numbers reveals that if you exclude Van Gerwen, Dutch players have managed just two wins from fifteen finals, highlighting his crucial role in the nation's European Tour achievements.

Van Gerwen's record is staggering: he has contested 50 finals, winning 38 of them for an incredible 76% win rate. This makes him not only the most successful Dutch player in European Tour history but also one of the most dominant figures in world darts. In contrast, other Dutch players like Danny Noppert, Dirk van Duijvenbode, Jelle Klaasen, Gian van Veen, and Benito van de Pas have all reached multiple finals but are still seeking their first titles.

There are exceptions to this trend, with Raymond van Barneveld and Vincent van der Voort each winning a final at their first attempt, proving other Dutchmen can also triumph. However, the bulk of Dutch glory on the Euro Tour is undeniably owed to Van Gerwen, who lifts himself to the summit and represents the Netherlands as a leading darts nation in Europe. For his compatriots, matching his success remains a formidable challenge.

The European Tour continues on the weekend of March 13-15 with the European Darts Trophy in Göttingen, where Nathan Aspinall will defend his title after beating Ryan Joyce 8-4 in last year's final.
