The Professional Darts Corporation has announced a significant expansion of its broadcasting partnership with Belgian channel VTM. Under the new agreement, all PDC tournaments will be available across VTM's platforms in the coming years, giving the sport even greater visibility in Belgium. The partnership, which began in 2020, will see all European Tour events broadcast live on VTM 2, VTM 4, and the streaming platform VTM GO from 2027.
Major events such as the World Darts Championship, the Premier League, and European Tour events in Belgium itself will remain part of the package, providing viewers with year-round access to live darts. The PDC highlighted that interest in darts has increased sharply in Belgium in recent years, both on television and in arenas. The Belgian Darts Open in Wieze has become a fixture on the European Tour calendar, and the Premier League night at the AFAS Arena in Antwerp earlier this year was a complete sell-out, demonstrating high demand for live darts in the country.
PDC Chief Executive Matt Porter expressed delight with the expansion, stating: "We're delighted to extend and expand our partnership with VTM. The broadcaster has played a key role in the growth of darts in Belgium in recent years." He added: "The increased coverage across all PDC tournaments is a significant step forward and underlines both the strength of the partnership and the continued rise of the sport in the region. We look forward to working with VTM to further build on this momentum and bring even more top-class darts to fans in Belgium."
Beyond broadcasting, VTM is investing in player development through projects like the VTM 2 Darts Academy and the VTM Next Gen Darts Academy, which support young Belgian darters on their path to the professional circuit. Several talents are currently competing on the Development Tour, hoping to follow in the footsteps of Belgian players Dimitri Van den Bergh and Mike De Decker, who have won major PDC tournaments in recent years and serve as role models for the next generation.
