FORMER WORLD CHAMPION QUESTIONS LUKE LITTLER'S MOTIVATION AS HE NEARS £3 MILLION MARK

Luke Littler is on the verge of reaching a milestone in darts history, with twelve major titles in just two years and £2,961,000 on the Order of Merit, an outright record in the sport. The 19-year-old world champion holds an impressive lead of £1,754,500 over his nearest rival, Luke Humphries, and has back-to-back world championships to his name, positioning him to challenge Phil Taylor's record of 16 world titles.

Former world champion Scott Mitchell recently shared his thoughts on Littler's future, suggesting the biggest challenge may not be on the scoreboard but in his own motivation. "I think the biggest thing that's going to impact on Littler's dominance is how much money he wants," said Mitchell on the All About the Darts podcast. "How much money does he need to live, or how much money do you earn to keep your hunger to want to keep winning?" Mitchell compared Littler's situation to his own career, noting, "I'm not in a position to be going and buying Porsches and Ferraris where Luke is."

Mitchell emphasized that Littler's motivation will be crucial, stating, "For Phil, the money was never the issue, it was always the title, always the accolade that he liked. If Luke [Littler] can stay like that, I think he can stay in the game an awful long time." This casts an interesting light on the Littler phenomenon, raising questions about whether he can maintain the same insatiable hunger that defined legends like Taylor, especially as a young, wealthy, and successful player.

What makes Littler so impressive so far is not just his talent, but also his ability to perform under pressure on the biggest stage, with two world titles secured before his twentieth birthday. Fans and experts are following his career with anticipation, as every victory brings him closer to breaking records long considered untouchable.
