GERWYN PRICE EXTENDS REMARKABLE PRO TOUR FINAL STREAK TO NINE CONSECUTIVE YEARS

Gerwyn Price has cemented his status as one of darts' most consistent performers by reaching at least one PDC Pro Tour final for the ninth straight year. The Welshman, known as 'The Iceman', extended his impressive streak last Tuesday at the second Players Championship of 2026, where he was narrowly defeated 8-7 by Wessel Nijman in the final. This achievement underscores an unprecedented run of high-level consistency in professional darts.

Price's remarkable run began in 2018, when he secured one title and one runner-up finish on the Pro Tour. He followed that in 2019 with four titles and another lost final. The 40-year-old showcased his dominance in 2020, racking up five tournament victories and three second places. He maintained momentum in 2021 with four titles and two lost finals. In 2022, he added three titles, then enjoyed a powerhouse 2023 with six Pro Tour titles and another final appearance. Although 2024 saw him finish as runner-up in two finals, he kept the streak alive. In 2025, he delivered another top year with five titles and two runner-up finishes. Overall, from 2018 through 2026, Price has contested 50 Pro Tour finals, winning 31 and finishing as runner-up 19 times.

The Pro Tour is renowned for its demanding and unpredictable nature, with floor events often played at a rapid pace without crowds, where focus and scoring power are crucial. Price has distinguished himself in this environment for nearly a decade, demonstrating not only consistency but also pure class and mental resilience. As the current world number eleven, he continues to set himself apart while generations of players come and go.

Price will have immediate opportunities to add to his tally, with Players Championship 3 and 4 scheduled in Wigan next Monday and Tuesday. Later in the week, he is set to compete at the Poland Darts Open, the first event of the 2026 European Tour. Additionally, the third match night of Premier League Darts is on his agenda this Thursday.
