Jonny Clayton has given his first impressions of the new Winmau Blade X dartboard, expressing strong positivity after being involved in its recent launch. The Welshman, currently world number five, stated, "From what I've thrown on the Blade X so far, I think it's a fantastic dartboard." He highlighted the board's brightness and design, noting, "I think it's bright," which he believes aids focus during major TV tournaments where lighting and visibility are crucial.
Clayton also observed that the wiring on the Blade X appears thinner than on previous models, remarking, "The segments are bright, you know, and the wires on the segments that they seem a little bit smaller. I don't know if that's because the colour of the segments are brighter. I don't know." This detail could potentially reduce bounce-outs, a key factor for top players like Clayton, known for his scoring power and rhythm.
Despite his praise, Clayton remains realistic about the equipment's role, emphasizing player responsibility. He said, "The board is perfect," adding, "So, you know, it's us now that's got to prove that we are that good to throw that board." This attitude reflects his down-to-earth approach, as he plans to test the board in every tournament moving forward, underscoring its importance for elite competition.
